Rung Watchworks opened in 2009 on Thawewong Road in Patong. The founder, Khun Rung, had spent the previous decade learning mechanical servicing in Chiang Mai before settling in Phuket with her husband. She opened the workshop with three watchmaker's loupes, a well-worn bench, and a clear sense of what she wanted to do differently — take each piece seriously, regardless of its value.
Over the years the workshop expanded quietly. A second technician joined in 2014. A third followed in 2019, bringing experience in older Swiss movements. The space grew to accommodate a small waiting area and a proper parts cabinet. None of that changed the essential character of the place.
Today Rung Watchworks serves a mix of Phuket residents, expats, and visitors who arrive with a range of pieces — an everyday quartz that needs a battery, a grandfather's automatic that has been sitting in a drawer for years, or a valued mechanical watch that simply needs a thorough going-over. Each one is treated with the same unhurried attention.

Khun Rung Nuttaporn
Founder & Lead Technician
Specialises in mechanical movements and complex disassembly. Over fifteen years in watch servicing, with early training in Chiang Mai and experience across Swiss and Japanese calibres.
Khun Piyarat Thongsuk
Quartz & Battery Technician
Handles quartz servicing, battery replacements, strap work, and water-resistance testing. Known for careful seal checks and clear explanations of what has been done.
Khun Suwan Wiriyakorn
Heritage Movement Specialist
Focuses on older mechanical watches and heirloom pieces. Joined the workshop in 2019 with a background in vintage Swiss movements and considered parts sourcing.

Documented inspection
Each watch is inspected and logged before work begins. We record the condition as received and note any existing wear.
Water resistance verification
Watches rated for water resistance are tested after servicing to confirm seals are properly seated.
Timing accuracy check
Mechanical watches are tested for timing rate on a timing machine after regulation, with results shared on request.
Careful parts storage
All removed parts are kept in labelled trays throughout the work. Nothing is misplaced or mixed between jobs.
Secure premises
The workshop is locked outside business hours and all watches in care are stored in a locked cabinet overnight.
Responsible disposal
Used batteries and worn components are disposed of through appropriate channels. We do not add to local landfill unnecessarily.
Watch repair in Phuket — what we actually do
A watch repair workshop is a particular kind of place. It sits at the intersection of practical craft and patient attention. The work is not dramatic — it is mostly quiet, with small tools, good lighting, and a willingness to look carefully before reaching a conclusion.
Rung Watchworks handles a range of repairs and services across quartz and mechanical watches. Battery changes and strap adjustments are the most common requests, especially from visitors to Patong who notice a watch running slow or simply want a fresh strap before a trip. Full mechanical servicing — cleaning, lubrication, regulation — is more involved and suited to watches that see regular wear or that have been stored for a long time.
The Legacy Overhaul service is the most careful work we do. It is suited to older pieces and family watches where the history of the piece matters as much as its function. We source parts respectfully, consult with the owner at each stage, and do not hurry. Phuket is a place people pass through, but watches that come to us for overhaul stay until the work is done properly.
